MOBILE, Ala. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University football team continued its stretch of busy days ahead of the 2021 LendingTree Bowl today, Dec. 16, in Mobile, Ala.

The day began with an emphasis on service for both the Eagles and their opponent, the Liberty Flames. Representatives from each team traveled to different charitable organizations to take part in the event. Eastern was given the opportunity to package food for those in need at Feeding the Gulf Coast, an organization that exists to serve individuals who face hunger along the central Gulf Coast. From box building, to meal packaging, the players in attendance were able to make an incredible impact.

Following the service, their service opportunity, the entirety of the roster and coaching staff hit the ports, where they were able to tour the USS Alabama, a 1942 warship spanning better than 600 feet in length. A museum overflowing with historical machinery, educational opportunities, and other unique war-time history from the United States, team members enjoyed learning from war veterans, participating in simulator rides, and exploring deep within the walls of the ship and an accompanying submarine.

After lunch and team meetings, it will be back to football for the Green and White this afternoon. The team is preparing for its final full practice of the Bowl Week and will again utilize the facilities at nearby UMS Wright Preparatory School.

The action is set to continue tomorrow, Dec. 17, with another full slate of events that the Eagles will participate in. EMU will get a first look at Hancock Whitney Stadium, the site of Saturday's game, during a morning walk through. Head Coach Chris Creighton will participate in the event's official press conference as well.

Then, in front of an expected crowd of 50,000, Eastern will take part in a downtown Mardi Gras parade and pep rally.
