YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Iceman is returning home! Eastern Michigan University E-Club Hall of Famer and NBA Legend George Gervin will be coming home as a part of the upcoming men's basketball game against Florida International University Saturday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. The fun-filled day will be presented by GameAbove.

Gervin will be the focal point of the afternoon with fun activities and giveaways. Be sure to wear white against FIU as we "ice-out" the Convo.

GameAbove is giving the first 1,000 EMU students attending the game $75, in honor of Gervin being selected to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team. GameAbove is offering a matching donation of $100 in Gervin's name to the EMU Student Emergency Fund for each EMU faculty or staff member who attends the event. Visit https://www.gameabove.com/george-gervin-day/ to learn more on rules and eligibility.

Additionally, 50 George Gervin bobbleheads will be awarded leading up to and throughout the game, as well as 3,500 commemorative t-shirts and rally towels.

Fans can buy tickets to the Dec. 11 contest for 24 percent off in honor of Gervin's EMU jersey number, 24.

Recently announced, Gervin will be the subject of a currently untitled documentary directed by One9 and produced by MSM, alongside GameAbove and its subsidiary Front Runner Films. Mike Tollin, the producer of The Last Dance, will be heading the production as well.

Gervin, a member of the 1,000 point club at EMU (1,044), was drafted into the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1974 by the Phoenix Suns in the third round, 40th overall. He went on to play 10 seasons in the NBA, mostly with the San Antonio Spurs, before ending his career with the Chicago Bulls. The Detroit native was an all-star for nine consecutive seasons in the league, 1976-85, and was a four-time scoring champion (1977-78, 1978-79, 1979-80, 1981-82). Furthermore, the Iceman was an NBA first-team selection five times, and second-team twice.

In 1986 Eastern celebrated Gervin by retiring his No. 24 jersey in the rafters and was inducted into the E-Club Hall of Fame in 1993. In 1996, he was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, as well as being selected as one of the NBA's top-50 players of all-time. The Eastern alum still holds the career-scoring average record at 26.5 points per game and was recently named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

GameAbove is an advisory board of EMU alumni who are committed to making a difference at EMU. Gervin happens to also be a member.
