Soccer Suffers Setback at Akron

The Eagles will stay on the road to play Bowling Green, Oct. 14
AKRON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University soccer team suffered a setback, falling to the University of Akron, 2-0, Sunday, Oct. 10, inside FirstEnergy Stadium.
The loss drops the Eagles' overall record to 2-9-2 and their Mid-American Conference record to 1-4-1.
Sophomore Amanda Cripps (Bradford, Ontario-Trinity Catholic) earned multiple scoring opportunities, notching two shots on goal. Freshman Ashley Schneider (Johnstown, Ohio-Johnstown Monroe) led the Eagles with three total shots and 67 minutes off the bench.
In goal, senior Chelsea Abbotts (Ottawa, Ontario-Mother Teresa) played the entirety of the first half while sophomore Rebecca Przybylo (Canton, Mich.-Plymouth) played in net for the second half.
How It Happened
The Zips took an early lead with a goal in the third minute off the foot of Sydney Worthy. Akron would add an insurance goal in the 19th minute from Sydney Ward and never look back, earning the 2-0 victory.

» Schneider's three shots was the rookie's career high.
» With Cripps' two shots on goal, the sophomore has now tied the team-high with eight shots on goal in the 2021 season.
» Przybylo made her fourth appearance in net for Eastern this season, recording five saves.
