Men’s Golf Earns GCAA President's Special Recognition

The Eagles were honored as an outstanding academic squad nationally
NORMAN, Okla. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team earned President's Special Recognition by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
To be recognized by the GCAA, teams need to achieve a GPA of 3.0-or-better. With EMU's team GPA being above 3.5, they were among the 56 other Division I schools that received the President's Special Recognition.
The team garnered success on the course and in the classroom, posting a 2019-20 season average of 291.8. The total ranks third-best in school-history. Additionally, EMU notched four tournament top-five showings as a team and broke the 54-hole school record with a 20-under 832 at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, Sept. 9-10, 2019.
The squad was recognized for having the best GPA among the men's teams at Eastern at 3.754, which also is the highest semester GPA in program history. Furthermore, Head Coach Bruce Cunningham's crew collected the APR Public Recognition Award, a perfect 1000 single-year rate in 2018-19, and tied for first in the Mid-American Conference in multi-year rates.
Earlier this week, five members of the team were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars. Earning the honor for the Eagles were senior Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin), juniors Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic), Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary), Tyler Rayman (Otsego, Mich.-Otsego), and redshirt sophomore Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park).
