Odukoya Earns Spot on John Mackey Award Watchlist

The award is given annually to the nation's best tight end
NEW YORK, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) — The Friends of John Mackey released the 2020 John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List today, July 17. Representing the Eastern Michigan University football team on the list is senior tight end Thomas Odukoya (Almere, Netherlands-Helen Parkhurst-Garden City C.C.). The 2020 campaign marks the second consecutive season in which Odukoya has received the honor.
The John Mackey Award is given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end. The award recipient is selected by a vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee. The 2020 Mackey Award recipient will be announced in December at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU.
The lone Mid-American Conference tight end named to the 36-player list, Odukoya received Academic All-MAC honors in 2019 after appearing in all 13 games that EMU played. The Netherlands-born playmaker earned seven starts for the Eagles. He made a season-high 10-yard catch at Central Michigan (Oct. 5). Most recently, Odukoya and was named a Fourth Team All-MAC Preseason All-MAC honoree by Phil Steele's College Football Preview, July 13.
