YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics program celebrates the achievements of Megan Benzie (Roanoke, Va.-Cave Springs) and Xarria Lewis (Columbia, Mo.-Hickman) during their time as Eagles.
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics program celebrates the achievements of Megan Benzie (Roanoke, Va.-Cave Springs) and Xarria Lewis (Columbia, Mo.-Hickman) during their time as Eagles.
Megan Benzie (Roanoke, Va.-Cave Springs) spent three years with the Eastern Michigan Gymnastics team, excelling both academically and athletically. Benzie recorded her career-high on floor at Bowling Green, Jan. 19, 2018, scoring a 9.775, while also scoring 9.700-or-better four times as a member of the floor lineup. The Roanoke, Va. native has cracked the Dean's List four times, and will graduate a year early with a degree in exercise science.
Transferring to Eastern Michigan from Missouri, Xarria Lewis (Columbia, Mo.-Hickman) came to EMU with a multitude of experience. She is a leader in the gym and in the classroom as she was named to the SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll in 2018 during her time with the Tigers. At Eastern, she continued her excellence and provided support and guidance for the whole team with her experience. Lewis competed two exhibition floor routines during the 2020 season and ended her collegiate career with a career-high 9.825 on vault.
