Thirty-four Rowers Named to CAA Academic Honor Roll

The 34 match the number selected to the Fall 2018 honor roll

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Thirty-four student-athletes from the Eastern Michigan University rowing team were named to the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2019 semester, the conference office announced today, Feb. 4.

Members of the Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll must have participated in a CAA-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade point average of 3.0 during the designated academic term and been enrolled as a full-time student.

Senior members of the EMU squad to be named to the team were: Haley Dutton (West Salem, Wis.-West Salem), Mackenzie Geisler (Mount Horeb, Wis.-Mount Horeb), Karson Mahaney (Troy, Ohio-Miami East), Ashly Matzek (Ellsworth, Wis.-Ellsworth), Alicia Schmidt (South Lyon, Mich.-South Lyon East), Hannah Taylor (Brooklyn, Mich.-Columbia Central), and Breanna Wirth (Southgate, Mich.-Southgate Anderson), along with graduate student Jennifer Bucci (Toronto, Ont.-Bishop Allen).

From the junior class, Lauren Ahern (Farmington Hills, Mich.-Walled Lake Western), Isabela Fialho (Brasilia, Brazil-Troy), Leah Huyser (Jenison, Mich.-Jenison), Eve Melody (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Jerome), Laura Penny (Saline, Mich.-Saline), Diana Spokas (Woodstock, Ill.-Woodstock), and Carly Szymanski (Toledo, Ohio-Toledo) were named to the honor roll.

Lauren Coleman (Hudson, Ohio-Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy), Michelle Deering (Elkton, Mich.-Laker), Erica Dubke (Gibraltar, Mich.-Oscar A. Carlson), Anna Eschenburg (Bruce Township, Mich.-Romeo), Mackaela Geisler (Mount Horeb, Wis.-Mount Horeb), Brianna Gracey (Dayton, Ohio-Chaminada Julienne), Mary Hemgesberg (Freeland, Mich.-Freeland), Michalyn Hiltz (Otisville, Mich.-Lakeville Memorial), and Caitlin Rodanhisler (Hopkins, Mich.-Hopkins) represent rowing's sophomore class on the list.

Newcomers Rose Andrews (Rochester, Ill.-Rochester), Emma Boersen (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East), Chloe Hinojosa (Kewanee, Ill.-Kewanee), Alexis Kettler (Trenton, Mich.-Trenton), Kaialani Knox (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel), Haley Laine (Belleville, Mich.-Belleville), Lena McCaslin (Hendersonville, Tenn.-Pope John Paul II), Maisy Nichols (Jackson, Mich.-Western), Ann Riethmiller (Ann Arbor, Mich.-Salem), and Hope Vaughan (South Lyon, Mich.-Oxford Virtual Academy) round out the Eagles named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Eastern Michigan returns to action Saturday, Feb. 29 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. as it takes on the University of Alabama and Southern Methodist University to begin the spring racing slate. Updated race times will be posted to EMUEagles.com when they become available.
