Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success in competition

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week.

Jenna Annecchiarico
Sophomore point guard Jenna Annecchiarico was outstanding for the Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team in its two games against Ohio, Feb. 5, and Western Michigan, Feb. 8. The Baldwin, N.Y.-native began her impressive week on Tuesday as she put up 17 points and 10 rebounds against the Bobcats. The double-double performance was the first of her career, and both her point and rebound totals led the team. She added a team-best five assists, and has now registered three games with five-or-more assists this season. The second-year standout topped her midweek performance with the Saturday showing of her career, leading Eastern to a last-minute win, and capping a 10-point second half comeback, to beat in-state rival Western Michigan, Feb. 8. Annecchiarico dropped a career-best 31 points on 10-of-23 shooting. Electric from beyond-the-arc, she drained five three-point shots on 10 attempts. The Empire State-product was clutch from the charity stripe as well, going a perfect 6-of-6 to help close out the Broncos. With her performance, Annecchiarico has now scored in double-digits nine times this season, including in each of EMU's last four games. Her 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks third in the Mid-American Conference, and her 3.4 apg average is 11th in the league. Additionally, only 12 games featuring MAC teams this year have seen better single-game scoring performances than that of Annecchiarico's 31 points. An all-around player, Annecchiarico also ranks inside the MAC's top-10 in steals per game (2.0).

Baldvin Magnusson
Eastern Michigan harrier Baldvin Magnusson ranks first in the Mid-American Conference in the 3,000-meter run after shattering his personal best at the Meyo Invitational, Saturday, Feb. 8. The Akureyri, Iceland, native was the runner-up in the Ryan Shay 3K race with a time of 8:03.28. For perspective, Magnusson's previous career-best in this event came exactly one year ago at the GVSU Big Meet, where he finished 22nd overall with a time of 8:28.09.
