YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics will remain active as it meets the extraordinary standards for risk mitigation set forward by the State of Michigan. Wednesday's football game against the University of Toledo is still set to take place at Rynearson Stadium at 7 p.m.
Due to the new Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) orders, EMU will not be able to host any fans, this includes players and coaches guests, band, cheer, or dance team members.
"Working in conjunction with our medical and health leadership groups we will continue to follow all protocols set forth by EMU, local and state officials and the MAC office to meet the extraordinary standards for risk mitigation during this pandemic," said EMU Vice President/Director of Athletic Scott Wetherbee. "The Eastern Michigan Athletic Department will always place the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches and staff at the forefront of our decision making process. I continue to be grateful for the fantastic radio and television partners, which will allow fans to listen or watch our amazing student-athletes compete on a national stage."
In accordance with Eastern Michigan University guidelines, there will be no spectators allowed at home basketball games or swimming & diving meets for the remainder of the 2020 calendar year. EMU will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates on any changes to the attendance policy via EMUEagles.com.
