MAC Announces 2020 Football Preseason Media Poll

EMU is picked to finish fifth in the league's West Division
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University football team was picked to finish fifth in the Mid-American Conference West Division today Oct. 29, in the league's preseason media poll. The squad finished in the same position in the MAC preseason coach's poll released Oct. 28.
Two media representatives from each member school of the conference took part in the voting process for the poll.
The Eagles received 46 points, finishing ahead of Northern Illinois (39). Central Michigan was selected to win the West Division with 119 total points and 10 first-place votes, followed by EMU rivals Toledo (118; 7) , Ball State (93; 4) and Western Michigan (89; 3).
In the East Division, it was Buffalo that took the top spot, amassing an impressive 135 points and 19 first-place votes. Those totals were both the highest in the poll in either division. Defending MAC champion Miami is slated in the two spot with 107 points and three first-place casts. Ohio (101; 1), Kent State (85; 1), Bowling Green (50), and Akron (26) rounded out the East Division totals.
Five teams received votes to win the annual MAC Football Championship Game between the winners of the West and East Divisions. Buffalo garnered a league-best 14 votes, while CMU (4), Toledo (3), Ball State (2), and Kent State (1) also collected the recognition.
Head Coach Chris Creighton and the rest of the Eagles will open the 2020 season under the lights when they travel to Dix Stadium for a #MACtion matchup with Kent State, Wednesday, Nov. 4. The 6 p.m. kickoff will be shown live on ESPN+, or can be heard locally on WEMU 89.1 FM, where veteran broadcasters Matt Shepard and Rob Rubick will have the call. Be sure to tune in early and keep the volume up at half, as Tom Helmer will bring you a new-look pregrame and halftime show for the 2020 campaign.
