Chad Roskelly joins EMU Baseball's staff as the volunteer assistant coach
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Head Baseball Coach Eric Roof announced the addition of Chad Roskelly to his staff today, Oct. 22.
"We are extremely excited to add Chad to our coaching staff," began Roof. "I had the opportunity to coach him in college and now the privilege to work with him daily. His wealth of knowledge for the game and experience both as a player and a coach will pay dividends to our program."
Roskelly joins EMU from Oakland University, where he was an assistant coach for the 2020 season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Golden Grizzlies' season was cut short after just 12 games.
Prior to Oakland, Roskelly was an assistant coach at Lansing Community College. In his role, he helped guide the Stars to Division II NJCAA national rankings, reaching as high as seventh. While working with the hitters, Roskelly aided LCC to the second-highest team batting average in the nation (.361), third-highest in on base percentage (.467), and seventh in the nation ranking in slugging percentage (.553) for the 2019 season.
In addition to coaching, Roskelly also served as the inaugural Director of Baseball for the Lemonade League, the Lansing Lugnuts' Wood Bat Collegiate League, during the summer of 2020.
Roskelly attended Michigan State University, where he was a four-year letterwinner for the Spartans' baseball team as a catcher and designated hitter. He was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman team in 2015 and All-Big Ten Second team in 2017, as well as collecting MSU Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2015 and being named Team MVP in 2018. Roskelly graduated with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology in 2018.
He is engaged to Jensyn Bradley, and currently resides in Macomb, Mich.
