EMU has been picked to finish fourth for the second consecutive season

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team was selected to finish fourth in the Mid-American Conference, as a part of the MAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office announced Thursday, Jan. 9.

Central Michigan University grabbed the number one spot with 41 points and was the only team with two votes for MAC Champion, after finishing second at the championships last season. The Chippewas  are followed by the defending MAC Champions in Northern Illinois University (35) at second, and Kent State University (34) in third. Eastern Michigan (27) was fourth and Western Michigan (24) in fifth, to round out the top five. Ball State (22) and Bowling Green (13) were picked to finish sixth and seventh, respectively. The Eagles, Falcons, Golden Flashes, Huskies, and Broncos all received one vote to win the conference championship.

In 2019, EMU was picked to finish fourth in the league, yet exceeded expectations by finishing the season in third place. The Eagles went on to the MAC Championship and finished third as well, falling to champions NIU and CMU, who took second.

The Green and White look for their fourth MAC title this season, opening at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green Saturday, Jan. 11, at 4 p.m. Fans can follow the live stats on EMUEagles.com or follow @EMUGym on Twitter for updates on everything Eagles gymnastics.
