YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team has received plenty of publicity after word got out that a routine trip home from Buffalo, N.Y., Jan. 19, was anything but.

Normally a six hour cruise home, the team spent better than 14 hours attempting to get back to Michigan after a closure along I-90 West sent the team on a detour it will never forget. After 6.5 hours of waiting along a snow-covered and elevated road, helping others move their vehicles, getting the team bus towed, and even spending some time with the local fire department, the team made it safely home.

In the two days following the occurrence, various media outlets have used their platforms to tell the full story to a larger audience.

GoErie.com, a large publication based in Erie, Pa., close to where the team was halted, published an article yesterday, Jan. 21. Readers are encouraged to view, share and repost the article here, or at the link provided above.

Today, NBC Channel 4, a Detroit-based news station, spent time taping a television feature that will include Head Coach Fred Castro and student-athlete Areanna Combs. The feature will air during the 6 p.m. news hour tonight, Jan. 21, on NBC Channel 4 In the metro Detroit area. The feature will also be available online at ClickOnDetroit.com.

On the court, Eastern returns home to the friendly confines of the Convocation Center for a midweek matchup with in-state and Mid-American Conference West Division foe Central Michigan University Wednesday, Jan. 22. Tipoff between the Eagles and Chippewas is slated for 7 p.m.
