Senior linebacker led the Eagles with 12 tackles at the Quick Lane Bowl

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University senior linebacker Kobie Beltram (Antioch, Calif.-Antioch-City College of San Francisco) was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week for the period ending Dec. 27,  the league office announced Thursday, Jan. 2.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented weekly to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition.

Beltram, who carries a 3.23 GPA in Sport Management, led the Eagles with 12 tackles (9 solo, 3 assisted) at the Quick Lane Bowl, Dec. 26, against Pittsburgh. Beltram also had a tackle-for-loss, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry as the Eagles gave the Atlantic Coast Conference opponent everything it could handle in the contest.

Overall, he finished with 128 tackles on the year to rank 13th in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) ranks with an average of 9.8 stops per contest.
