Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success in competition

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week.

Owen Richardson
Junior sprinter Owen Richardson won a pair of individual titles at the Doug Hansen Open in University Center, Mich., Friday, Jan 17. The Basingstoke, England, native claimed first prize in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 21.29 seconds. Richardson also made his season debut in the 400-meter race and won in convincing fashion with a mark of 47.62 seconds. This marks the second consecutive meet in which Richardson has won two events, having won the 200-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay at the Wolverine Invitational, Jan. 11.

Casey Gavigan
Senior Casey Gavigan paced the Eagles with two wins against conference opponent Akron Saturday, Jan. 18. The senior won both the 100 and 200 backstroke, recording her seventh and eighth wins on the season. In addition, both of Gavigan's times found their way on to the program's top-10 all-time list, each ranking seventh in the respective events.
