Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success in competition
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week.
Owen Richardson
Eastern Michigan junior sprinter Owen Richardson shined for the Green and White in his season debut at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., Saturday, Jan. 11. The Basingstoke, England, native claimed first prize in the 200-meter dash as he crossed the finish line in 21.53 seconds. He also ran the second leg as part of EMU's 'A' squad in the 4x400-meter relay, helping the Eagles capture the runner-up spot with a time of 3:18.55.
Bethany Berger
Bethany Berger won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events for Eastern Michigan Saturday, Jan. 11 at Wayne State. Setting new career-best scores in each event, the Batavia, Ohio native marked 291.22 in 1-meter and 305.85 in 3-meter. Additionally, Berger met the NCAA Qualifying Standard in 3-meter diving and becomes the third Eagle diver to have met the qualifying standards in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving this season.
