Two-time Eastern graduate promoted after five years on staff
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University Head Men's Basketball Coach Rob Murphy revealed the newest addition to his coaching staff Tuesday, July 9, announcing the elevation of Andrew Kang to the Director of Operations position.
"Andrew has been preparing himself for this opportunity for the past five years," said Murphy. "I'm confident he will do a tremendous job in his new role in our basketball program."
Kang, who has been on the EMU men's basketball staff in multiple capacities since 2014, will now be tasked with handling the recruiting and operations budgets, tracking academic success, organizing community outreach, coordinating team travel, and other administrative duties.
The Los Angeles, Calif. native spent four years as a student manager on the EMU men's basketball staff while earning his Bachelor's of Business Administration in Management. After a stint as the team's video intern, he then spent the next two years as the Eagles' graduate assistant, obtaining his Master's of Science in Sport Management. His working experience also includes time as a customor service supervisor with Delta Airlines, and a two-year stint as a station supervisor for Pinnacle Airlines.
