Kadera adds eight years coaching experience and is a former All-MAC honoree

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Kassie Kadera, a former standout student-athlete and NCAA Division II head coach, has been named an assistant coach for Eastern Michigan University's volleyball team, Head Coach Darcy Dorton announced today, April 8.

Kadera, who was an All-Mid-American Conference student-athlete at the University of Toledo, has accumulated  eight years of coaching experience at both the collegiate and club level in the midwest. She will work primarily with the setters while at Eastern, as well as assist with recruiting and scouting.

"I am so excited to have Kassie join our staff," said Dorton. "Her experience as a student-athlete in the MAC and familiarity with the conference will help her fit in right away. She understands what it means to win a MAC Championship and is eager to get started helping us defend our title. She comes from an incredible training background and I know her passion and knowledge is something our student-athletes will benefit from immediately."

Prior to joining Dorton's staff, Kadera served as the head coach at Walsh University, an NCAA Division II institution in Canton, Ohio. After beginning her tenure with the Cavaliers as an assistant in 2014, Kadera was promoted to the head coach in 2015 and promptly led the team to its second conference tournament appearance and first Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) East Division title.

Kadera's collegiate coaching career began as a volunteer at the University of Akron where she helped coach setters, broke down film, and kept track of necessary statistics for the Zips' coaching staff. She has also spent seven years coaching with various club programs throughout Ohio.

The University of Toledo graduate had a highly-decorated career for the Rockets, led the MAC in assists-per-set in 2009 and ranked third in the league in her other four seasons, while also earning All-MAC Second Team honors three times.
