14 Eagles Land Academic All-MAC Honors

183 conference student-athletes were named to the 2018-19 indoor Academic All-MAC team
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - A total of 14 members of Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team were named to the All-Mid American Conference Academic team for the 2018-19 indoor season, the league office announced Wednesday, March 27.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
Receiving the honors for EMU were: seniors Rebekah Carr (Celina, Ohio-Celina), Allyson Goff (White Lake, Mich.-Walled Lake Northern (Georgia State)), Jessica Harris (Slidell, La.-Slidell), Sydney Meyers (Zionsville, Ind.-Zionsville Community), juniors Micah Johnston (Toledo, Ohio-Toledo Christian), Brittni Mason (Richmond Heights, Ohio-West Geauga), Catherine Mittiga (South Bend, Ind.-John Adams), Gianna Salzbrunn (North Aurora, Ill.-Montini Catholic), and sophomores Kadian Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica Immaculate Conception), Madison Distelrath (Fort Wayne, Ind-Homestead), Savanah Luthman (Minster, Ohio- Minster), Michaela Nelms (Rocky Mount, N.C.- Nash Central), Graysen Simmons (Huber Heights, Ohio-Wayne), and Ashleigh Simonis (Cape Town, South Africa- Milnerton).
EMU completed another successful indoor campaign with a second-place finish at the MAC Championships hosted by Kent State University, Feb. 22-23. Meyers earned the second most points of any female trackster throughout the competition, while Harris, Nelms, Goff, and Johnston each earned podium finishes throughout the weekend. The Eagles topped the other 10 conference competitors by a minimum of seven points, securing its 14th-straight second-place or better finish at the championships.
The Eagles now look to a tri-meet weekend in Texas and California, competing in the Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas in Austin, Texas March 28-30, the Bobcat Invitational, hosted by Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, March 28-30, and the Stanford Invitational hosted by Stanford University in Stanford, Calif. March 29.
