Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success in competition

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are track and field athletes Sydney Meyers and Tyler Underwood.

Week's Achievements: Eastern Michigan senior Sydney Meyers (Zionsville, Ind.-Zionsville Community) closed out her MAC indoor career with three top-five finishes at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, Feb. 22-23. She started the weekend with a third-place effort in the 5000m run, finishing the distance in just 16:38.37. Meyers also ran a leg of the Eagles' second-place Distance Medley Relay at the end of Friday's competitions. The Zionsville, Ind. native had two top-five finishes throughout the second day, securing a second-place effort in the 3000m with a time of 9:41.03. Meyers also grabbed fourth place in the Mile run with a 4:48.81 performance.  Throughout the two-day competition, the senior captain earned the second most points of any female trackster, leading the Eagles to securing their 14th-straight second-place or better finish at the MAC Championships.

Week's Achievements: Eastern Michigan senior runner Tyler Underwood (Clinton, Mich.-Clinton) made his last appearance at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships the best of his career, Feb. 22-23.  Underwood finished his conference indoor career with two individual championships, securing top finishes in both the 200m and 400m with career-best efforts. His 200m mark of 21.18 registered the fifth-fastest effort by an EMU runner in the event, while his 400m time of 46.30 moved him up five spots in the Eastern history books to the third-fastest performance in program history. For his performances throughout the weekend's competitions, Underwood was named the conference's Most Valuable Performer for the first time in his career.
