Baseball Selected Seventh in MAC Preseason Poll

EMU received 45 points in the survey of leagues coaches

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — For the second consecutive year, the Eastern Michigan University baseball team was tabbed to finish seventh in the preseason Mid-American Conference coaches' poll, the league office announced Thursday, Feb. 13.
In a mirror result from the 2018 preseason poll, Kent State was picked to finish on top of the MAC with 98 points, including eight of the 10 possible first-place votes. Ball State came in at the No. 2 selection with 88 total points, while Miami, Central Michigan, and Toledo rounded out the top five, respectively. Filling out the final five spots, Ohio, EMU, Western Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Bowling Green completed the poll, respectively. In addition, Miami and NIU received the other two first-place votes.
EMU is coming off a sixth-place regular season finish a season ago, which saw the Eagles win 14 MAC games for the second year in-a-row, marking the second straight season that EMU finished above .500 in conference play. The Eagle's season culminated in Avon, Ohio, as EMU played in the MAC Tournament for the third consecutive season. Prior to last season, the Eagles had not played in three straight MAC Tournaments since 2010-2012.
The Eagles open the 2019 season Friday, Feb. 15, when they battle the New Jersey Institute of Technology, for a four-game opening weekend series in Hoover, Ala. The Eagles' 56-game schedule is highlighted by 19 games at Oestrike Stadium, opening with a single game against the University of Dayton, Tuesday, March 12.
