CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan-Northern Illinois football game, scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 19, will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. CT), the Mid-American Conference office announced today, Nov. 14. The game will be shown nationally on ESPN2. WEMU (89.1 FM) will provide audio coverage of the game from Huskie Stadium.
The Eagles and Huskies have met 49 times in their respective histories in a series that dates back to 1927. NIU holds a strong lead in the all-time tally, going 33-14-2, including winning the last 11 contests. EMU's last three meetings with NIU have been decided by a combined 13 points.
In each of the last three seasons, the MAC West Division matchup has taken overtime to decide the winner. It is just the second occurrence in NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) history that the same opponents needed extra time in three consecutive seasons.
Tuesday's contest marks just the second appearance for EMU on ESPN2 and the first since 2011 at Penn State. Since the start of the 2008 campaign, Eastern Michigan has had 110 games televised. A total of 79 of those small-screen appearances have occurred on the ESPN-family of networks (43 ESPN3, 11 ESPN+, 9 ESPNU, 5 ESPN Regional, 4 SEC Network, 2 ESPN, 2 ESPN2, 1 ESPN Classic, 1 ESPNews, and 1 ABC).
