Women's Track and Field Announces 2019-20 Schedule

The Eagles look to capture their sixth indoor and 13th outdoor MAC championships
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University women's track and field head coach Sue Parks announced the indoor and outdoor track and field schedules for the 2019-20 season Tuesday, Oct. 22. The indoor schedule has eight regular-season events, highlighted by the Can Am Classic hosted by EMU, Jan. 25, while the outdoor slate features nine regular-season meets, including a trio of in-state competitions.
For the fifth consecutive campaign, the Eagles will start their indoor season at the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Mich., Dec. 6. EMU will then return to Washtenaw County to compete at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., Jan. 11, before making the trek to University Center, Mich. for the Doug Hansen Open, Jan. 17.
EMU is set to host a meet for the second straight season, as the Green and White will stage the Can Am Classic at Bob Parks Track inside Bowen Field House, Jan. 25. Last year, the Eagles clinched five event titles, as they won the 60m, 200m, and 400m dashes, along with the mile run and long jump.
The Eagles will leave the Mitten for the first time to take part in the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame, Feb. 7-8, in South Bend, Ind. From there, the Green and White will return to Allendale for the GVSU Big Meet, while sending a separate group to compete in the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, Feb. 14-15.
After wrapping up the regular season slate with another short trip to Ann Arbor for the Silverston Invitational, Feb. 21, postseason action kicks off with the Mid-American Conference Championships in Akron, Ohio, Feb. 28-29, and concludes with the NCAA Championships from March 13-14 in Albuquerque, N.M.
EMU quickly shifts to the outdoor season with the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas, March 21, followed by a trip to Raleigh, N.C. to compete in the Raleigh Relays, March 27-28. The Eagles will continue to rack up miles as they head to Tucson, Ariz. for the Jim Click Shootout, April 4, before returning to Southeast Michigan for the Golden Grizzly Invitational in Rochester, Mich., April 10-11.
Two sets of Eagles will travel to the Golden State later in the month, with one group racing in the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., while another portion will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., April 16-18. The Green and White will then compete at the Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich., April 23-25, and head to the Hoosier State to race in the Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., May 1. EMU is set to close out the regular season in Ann Arbor at the Len Paddock Open, May 9.
Eastern will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. for the MAC Championships hosted by Western Michigan University, May 14-16, as it looks to send student-athletes to the NCAA East Regionals in Lexington, Ky., May 28-30. The NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships will take place from June 10-13 in Austin, Texas.
