Head Coach Chris Creighton surprised the sophomore DB at the end of Tuesday's practice
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — A normal afternoon practice turned into a day to remember for sophomore defensive back Freddie McGee III (Canton, Mich.-Salem) Tuesday, Sept. 4.
The Eagles head on the road for three straight games, starting with a Big Ten Conference matchup against the Purdue Boilermakers at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Ind. Eastern looks for its second-ever victory over a Big Ten team, as its only winning mark against the conference came in 2017 with a 16-13 win at Rutgers. EMU then heads to Buffalo to kick off the 2018 #MACtion on Sept. 15.
This season, McGee earned time on defensive as well as special teams in Eastern Michigan's 57-17 season-opening victory over Monmouth Friday night, Aug. 31, inside "The Factory" at Rynearson Stadium. Used primarily on special teams in 2017, McGee played in five games for the Green and White as a freshman.Hard work pays off.
