Maxx Crosby led the Eagles with eight tackles at San Diego State, Sept. 22

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Following a stat-stuffing performance this weekend, junior defensive end Maxx Crosby (Colleyville, Texas-Colleyville Herritage) was named Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week. The league office's announcement, Sept. 24, marks the third consecutive week an Eagle has garnered a MAC weekly honor and the second honor of Crosby's career.

Crosby led the Eagles with a career-high eight tackles at San Deigo State, Sept. 22, including 2.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles-for-loss. It marked the fourth multi-sack game of his career.

His disruption in the backfield was a crucial part of Eastern Michigan's stout defensive play in the second half, as EMU held San Diego State to just 100 yards and a field goal in the second half. It marked the third straight game this season that the Eagles limited an opponent to less than 175 yards in the final 30 minutes.

For the season, Crosby ranks second in the MAC and seventh nationally with 3.5 sacks. Crosby's 16.0 career sacks are slotted fourth in the Eastern Michigan record books and he trails Kevin Howe's third-ranked mark by 1.5, while he is 9.0 off Avery Brown's program record.

After three weeks away, Eastern Michigan returns home to Rynearson Stadium to host Northern Illinois University in Mid-American Conference play. It is Family Weekend as well as Hall of Fame Weekend, with kickoff slated for 6 p.m. For tickets, call 734.487.3669 or visit EMUEagles.com.
