YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University cross country senior Sydney Meyers (Zionsville, Ind.-Zionsville) was named the Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week the league office announced, Sept. 11. This is the first time Meyers, a co-captain of the EMU squad, has earned the weekly distinction.
Meyers captured the individual title at the George Dales Invitational in Three Rivers, Mich. Friday, Sept. 7. Not only did her final time of 17:20.1 warrant a first-place finish, but it also served as the best mark of the meet by over 10 seconds. Her performance propelled EMU to a team victory over Western Michigan University, as the Eagles bested the Broncos, 19-40.
Eastern has a week off of competition before returning to action Friday, Sept. 21 when it travels to Boston, Mass. to compete in the Battle in Beantown.
