Three EMU Men’s Golfers Collect Academic All-MAC Honors

Beau Breault, Tyler Lewis, and Nic Ross each took home the award

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team saw three of its student-athletes named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team the league office announced Friday, June 8. Senior Tyler Lewis (Ortonville, Mich.-Brandon-Mott CC), senior Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary), and junior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) each garnered the honor.  For Ross, it was the third time he collected the honor, while Breault picked up his second academic distinction from the conference.

A total of 28 student-athletes were named to the team from this past season. Northern Illinois led this year's squad with six student-athletes, while Toledo followed close behind with four honorees.
 
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.

Beault, a finance major holds a 3.83 cumulative GPA, led the Eagles with a 73.79 average this season. He finished with six rounds of par-or-better and a season low round of 66. Breault had a season best at the Dayton Flyer Invitational, tying first place with 212 (72-67-73). He also had a three-round total of 219 (71-73-75) at the Windon Memorial Classic and tied for 18th at the Louisville Cardinal Challenge with a total of 221 (75-75-71).

Lewis, who recorded a 3.93 GPA in Supply Chain Management, had the third best average of the Eagles, with a 74.72.  He secured a top five and top 10 finish this season. Lewis shot three rounds of par-or-better with a low round of 64.  He totaled a 225 (78-72-75) at the Dayton Flyer Invitational and had a total of 234 (81-73-80) at the Golfweek Conference Challenge.

A business major, Ross earned his Academic All-MAC position holding a 3.62 GPA. He finished the season with one top 10 finish and season average of 75.12. Ross shot six rounds of par-or-better with a low of 66. He tied for ninth at the Dayton Flyer Invitational with a total of 219 (72-75-73) and had his season best at Windon Memorial Classic with a three-round total of 218 (74-70-74).
