Radcliff set four EMU Football records in his three years in the Green and White

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University E-Club Hall of Famer Larry Radcliff passed away Thursday, June 7, at the age of 70. Ratcliff, who was inducted into the E-Club Hall of Fame in 1995, set multiple rushing records in his three seasons in the Green and White, and was drafted in the eighth round of the National Football League's 1972 Draft.

Born in Toomsuba, Miss. on Jan. 24, 1948, Radcliff graduated from Eastern Michigan in 1971 where he was a standout on the football team. Against Eastern Kentucky on Oct. 16, 1971, Radcliff set the record for rushing yards in a single game with 291, a mark that has yet to be eclipsed. Even after suffering a season-ending knee injury in the seventh game of a nine-game season, Radcliff was selected in the 1972 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles in the eighth round.

In 1969, Radcliff set the then-single season record for rushing yards when he gained 649 in his sophomore campaign. He set EMU football records for rushing yardage (2,848), total offensive yards (2,848), scoring (156 points) and touchdowns (26).

Radcliff came to Eastern Michigan after an outstanding prep career at East High School in Akron, Ohio. He earned all-city, all-district, and second team all-north-eastern Ohio honors on the gridiron, while also finishing fifth place in the 100 yard days in the Ohio state track meet.

The funeral will take place Saturday, June 16, at 11 a.m. inside Bethlehem Temple of Praise (3789 Venoy Rd. Wayne, MI 48184).
