CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team saw four of its student-athletes named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team the league office announced Thursday, May 31. Senior Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne), junior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval), and sophomores Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) and  Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) each garnered the honor.  For Beck, it was the third time she collected the honor, while Guilleux picked up her second academic distinction from the conference.

A total of 38 student-athletes were named to the team from this past season. Toledo led the conference with seven student-athletes, while Bowling Green and Central Michigan followed with five each selected to the 2018 squad.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.

Additionally, she was 13th at the MAC Championship with a 229 (74-76-79) and joined Stephany Fleet (2006-09) as the only student-athletes in program history to finish inside the top-15 in all four MAC Tournaments they competed in.
