YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Head Football Coach Chris Creighton continued to add to his roster for the upcoming 2018 campaign, as the Eagles welcomed 12 student-athletes to the football program Wednesday, Feb. 7, on National Signing Day. In total, EMU has added 29 fresh faces to the roster for the upcoming season after 17 players committed during the Early Signing Period in December.
The newest additions include six offensive, four defensive, and two special teams players representing four different states. EMU added three wide receivers, three offensive linemen, two defensive linemen, a linebacker, a defensive back, a kicker, and a punter.
"December 20th was a great day for Eastern Michigan football as was January 9th when nine new players started the second semester on campus," said Creighton. "We had a clear direction in January with our remaining roster spots and we couldn't be more excited about the group that signed today."
Overall, the highly anticipated class features a total of 22 different players ranked by the national recruiting services, including nine rated as three-star prospects. Furthermore, 11 of the additions hail from inside the State of Michigan and 13 come from within a 60 mile radius of Ypsilanti.
Eastern Michigan returns to the gray turf for its first spring practice Monday, March 5. The session kicks off a string of 15 practice dates during a four-week period that culminates with the program's annual spring football game Saturday, April 7, inside "The Factory" at Rynearson Stadium.
