Eastern aims to top Golden Grizzles for the fourth consecutive season

ROCHESTER, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) –  The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving team heads to Rochester, Mich. for a meeting with Oakland University, Saturday, Nov. 10.   The Eagles and Golden Grizzlies have met 37 times, dating back to the 1976 season, with EMU holding a slight series advantage, 19-17-1.

The Eagles most recently faced the Golden Grizzlies last season at Jones Natatorium, Nov. 11, 2017. Eastern dominated their in-state foe, coasting to a 199-101 win as then junior Nicole Swartz (Dayton, Ohio-Centerville) paced the team with three individual event wins in the 200, 500, and 1000 Freestyle.

The Green and White enter the dual fresh off a conference victory over Ohio University, Nov. 3. Eastern racked up nine event wins, led by Swartz and junior diver Sophia Tsafantakis (Washington, Mich.-Romeo), who both swept their respective events. Juniors Claire Young (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.-Grosse Point South) and Casey Gavigan (East Setauket, N.Y.-Ward Melville) as well as senior team captain Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) added event titles in the Eagles' 190-110 win over the Bobcats.

The matchup between the Eagles and Bobcats is set for 1 p.m. inside Oakland Aquatic Center in Rochester, Mich. Results will be available shortly after the meet at EMUEagles.com.
