GRANVILLE, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving team returns to the pool Thursday, Nov. 29 through Saturday, Dec. 1, as it heads to Granville, Ohio to compete in the inaugural Denison Invitational, hosted by the Denison Big Red Swimming and Diving program. The meet features competitors from NCAA Division I, II, and III schools.
EMU will face CollegeSwimming.com's No. 12 Ohio State University, Washington University of St. Louis (Wash. U), Emory University, Thomas Moore University, Wayne State University, and host Denison University throughout the three-day invitational. The Eagles have previously faced the host school this season, opening dual competition with a win over the Big Red, 156-133, Oct. 20. Additionally, EMU will face Wayne State later this season for a dual meet in Jones Natatorium.
The Green and White enters the meet coming off four straight dual meet wins to kick off its 2018-19 campaign. Most recently, EMU bested Oakland University, 190-110, as seniors Nicole Swartz (Dayton, Ohio-Centerville) and Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg), and junior Casey Gavigan (East Setauket, N.Y.-Ward Melville) each won two-or-more event titles. Gavigan's efforts earned her MAC Co-Swimmer of the Week honors for the week of Nov. 14, as her 100 Back finish against the Golden Grizzlies ranked as the third-fastest time for the event in the MAC this season. In addition, her 200 Backstroke finish of 2:00.02 had her touching in with the fourth-fastest time in the league this year.
The event features two sessions daily, with preliminary competition beginning at 10:30 a.m., and final heats set to start at 6:30 p.m. Live results for both preliminary and final competitions will be available here, while live video streaming of the later sessions can be found here.
