Gavigan Named MAC Swimmer of the Week

The junior is the first Eagle to win the conference weekly award this season
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University junior swimmer Casey Gavigan (East Setauket, N.Y.-Ward Melville) was named Mid-American Conference Co-Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday, Nov. 14. The junior is the first EMU swimmer to earn conference weekly honors this season.
Gavigan was a key piece of the effort that moved the Eagles to 4-0 for just the seventh time in history with a 190-110 win over Oakland University Saturday, Nov. 10. Gavigan swept the Backstroke events for the third meet this season, and has earned the top finish in every event she has entered this year. Her 100 Back finish against the Golden Grizzlies had her tapping in at 55.12, the third-fastest time for the event in the MAC this season. Her finish in the 200 Backstroke of 2:00.02 also ranked in the MAC top-five, touching in with the fourth-fastest time in the league this year.
The Eagles take a two-week hiatus before they get back in the water at the Denison Invitational, Nov. 29- Dec. 1.
