Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are volleyball athlete, Ariel Hamby, and men's golf athlete, Ty Celone.

Week's Achievements: Junior Ariel Hamby (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) put together two of her best games of the season to help Eastern Michigan to wins over Northern Illinois and Western Michigan. The Oak Park, Ill. native hit a career-best .615 on her nine kills in Eastern's sweep of Northern, and followed that performance with a career-high 13 kills in the Eagles' four-set victory over Western. Hamby finished the weekend with 22 kills, four digs, and four blocks, good for 24 total points.
 
The right side attacker now has more kills in the 2018 season (141) than she had in her first two seasons combined (140).

Week's Achievements: Sophomore Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) continued to shine for Head Coach Bruce Cunningham's crew, as he finished as the Firestone Invitational's runner-up with a two-day score of seven-under par 209 (70-69-70), Oct. 1-2. It was the second top-five showing of the season for Celone, while he has posted eight of his nine rounds this fall at par-or-better.
   Overall, EMU moved up three spots on the final day to finish tied for third-place with Ohio University on the par 72, 7,125-yard Firestone Country Club-North Course. The Eagles tallied a final round 286 to wrap up the event with a two-day total of 859 (286-287-286).
