Women's Track and Field Announces 2018-19 Indoor and Outdoor Schedules

The Eagles look to capture their sixth indoor and 13th outdoor MAC championships

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Women's Track and Field Head Coach Sue Parks announced the indoor and outdoor track and field schedules for the 2018-19 season Friday, Oct. 26. The indoor schedule is highlighted by eight regular-season meets, including the Can-Am Classic, which will be hosted by EMU, Jan. 26. The outdoor season has 12 regular season events, eight of which will be held out of state.

The indoor campaign begins as it has the last three seasons, with EMU competing in the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Mich., Dec. 7. From there, the Eagles venture west down Washtenaw Ave. to take part in the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., Jan. 12. The following week, the Green and White travels north to Saginaw, Mich. for the Doug Hansen Open, Jan. 18.

After not hosting a meet last year, the Eagles return to action inside the Bowen Fieldhouse with the Can-Am Classic, Jan. 26. For the next three meets EMU travels out of state, making stops at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind., hosted by Notre Dame, Feb. 1-2, while sending separate groups to the Kent State National Qualifier, Feb. 9, in Kent, Ohio, and the Iowa State Classic, Feb. 8-9, in Ames, Iowa.

Returning to Michigan for its last regular-season bout, EMU heads back to Allendale, Mich. for the GVSU Tune-Up, Feb. 15. The postseason begins in Kent, Ohio with Mid-American Conference Championships the following weekend, Feb. 22-23, while the NCAA Championships are located in Birmingham, Ala., March 8-9.

The outdoor slate puts Eastern out of state for the first four meets. To start, the Eagles travel south to Atlanta, Ga. for the Yellow Jackets Invitational, hosted by Georgia Tech March 15-16. Two weeks later, three sets of student-athletes will travel to separate locations, with EMU having representatives in the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas March 28-30, and the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., March 29-30.

Coming back to the Mitten the following weekend, April 5-6, the Eagles compete in the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing. The Green and White then takes on a nationally renowned competition it regularly competes in, in the form of the Tennessee Relays in Knoxville, Tenn., April 11-13. Two groups of Eagles head west for the Mt. SAC Relays in Torrance, Calif. and the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., April 18-20, with another group staying home to compete in the Don Kleinow Memorial Invitational in Adrian, Mich., April 19.

The next weekend will see similar actions, with separate groups sent to the Hillsdale Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich., April 25-27, and the Jesse Owens Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, April 26-27. Closing out the regular-season schedule, the Eagles return to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the Len Paddock Open, May 3.

The MAC Championships will be hosted by Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., May 9-11, with the NCAA East Regional set to take place in Jacksonville, Fla., May 23-25. Finally, the Eagles look to make the trip out to Austin, Texas to compete on the national stage with hopes of bringing home some hardware from the NCAA Championship, June 5-8.
