Eagles look for their 14th consecutive MAC dual meet victory
TOLEDO, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving team travels to Toledo, Ohio to take on the University of Toledo Rockets, Friday, Oct. 26, for its first Mid-American conference dual of 2018-19. The Eagles are looking for their 14th consecutive MAC dual meet victory, a win-streak dating back to their 2014-15 season.
The Friday night #MACtion matchup marks the first time the Eagles and Rockets have faced off in a dual meet since Nov. 5, 2016, when Eastern outshined Toledo, 134-110, at Jones Natatorium in Ypsilanti, Mich. Eastern Michigan was led by then-sophomore Nicole Swartz's (Dayton, Ohio-Centerville) season-best 1000 Freestyle time (10:15.12) and freshman Kylie Sutherlin's (Fishers, Ind.-Hamilton Southeastern) first-collegiate event win in the 200 Butterfly, to earn its eighth-straight MAC dual win and move to 3-0 (2-0 MAC) on the season.
The Green and White are coming off a dominant season-opening dual win against Denison, besting the Big Red, 156-133, Saturday, Oct. 20, in Jones Natatorium. Swartz led the competition with three event wins (200, 500 and 100 Freestyle), while seniors Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) and Stephanie Johnston (Holland, Mich.-Hamilton) and junior Casey Gavigan (East Setauket, N.Y.-Ward Melville) each earned two-or-more event titles in the dual meet. The Rockets opened their 2018-19 campaign with a first place finish in its tri-meet matchup with Findlay and Indianapolis, and are looking for their first win over the Eagles since the 2013-14 season.
