The Eagles will honor seven seniors prior to the meet

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team will wrap up the dual portion of its 2017-18 schedule Friday, Feb. 2, when it hosts Albion College in non-conference action at Jones Natatorium for Senior Day.

EMU will honor seven seniors prior to the start of action as Sarah Dombkowski (Canton, Mich.-Plymouth), Molly Miller (Farmington Hills, Mich.-Harrison), Hannah Newell (Ames, Iowa, Ames), Abby Saddler (Chanhassen, Minn.-Minnetonka), Alli Shereda (Fraser, Mich.-Fraser), Emily Tubbs (Monroe, Mich.-Monroe), and Chase Walker (Virginia Beach, Va.-Landstown) will be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments over the course of their careers.

The Eagles enter the non-conference clash after locking up their third consecutive season with an undefeated Mid-American Conference record after downing Miami, 169-131, Saturday, Jan. 27. Junior Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) and sophomore Casey Gavigan (East Setauket, N.Y.-Ward Melville) had impressive showings against the RedHawks as they both racked up two individual wins apiece. Duncan swept the breaststroke events with times of 1:01.40 and 2:16.64 in the 100 and 200 breast, respectively, while Gavigan took the backstroke events with blistering times of 55.70 and 2:01.07, respectively. Dombkowski, juniors Nicole Swartz (Dayton, Ohio-Centerville) and Stephanie Johnston (Holland, Mich.), and freshman Meike Staffeldt (Niedersachsen, Germany) all pitched in to the winning total with one event win.

Friday's tilt will mark the first time Eastern and Albion have gone head-to-head in a dual. The Green and White have compiled a 44-1 record against non-Division I schools, while going 16-1 against Division III opponents. The Britons will be the third team from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association that the Eagles have faced, having previously gone up against Hope College and Kalamazoo College. EMU maintains an unblemished 4-0 record against the Freeland, Mich. based conference.

Competition at Jones Natatorium begins at 5 p.m., while Senior Day festivities will start at 4:45 p.m.. Live results for the meet can be found here, while updates are also available on MeetMobile.
