This is the second weekly award earned by EMU this season

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University senior track and field athlete, Natalie Cizmas (Clinton Twp., Mich.-Chippewa Valley), earned Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors for the period ending Jan. 28. She earned the award for her impressive performance during the GVSU Lints Alumni Meet, Jan. 27. This is the second weekly conference award earned by Eastern this season.

Cizmas marked a mile time of 4:40.31 to break her personal-record and move up to second all-time in the EMU indoor record book. The Clinton Twp., Mich.-native bested her old time by four seconds and in doing so, claimed the top spot for the mile run in the MAC so far this season. Cizmas also participated in the 800m where she put together another solid run, crossing the finish line in 2:11.01 to place second behind teammate and redshirt senior Alsu Bogdanova (Kazan, Russia-Lyceum #83), which now ranks her third in the conference for the respective event.

Cizmas and the Eagles look to continue their dominance as they take part in the Meyo Invitational and Hillsdale Wide Track Classic Fri.-Sat., Feb. 2-3.
