YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University football team was joined by more than 200 of its youngest fans following its practice at "The Factory", Saturday, Aug. 12, as the Eagles hosted their fourth annual Youth Day.
Kids were given a chance to interact and gain lasting memories with the student-athletes through player-run drills held down on the "EMU Gray Turf". The day also served as Media Day, giving those in attendance the chance to hear from the coaching staff.
The morning began with the team's regularly scheduled scrimmage, which included two-minute drills, goal line scenarios and special teams drills. The duration of the scrimmage lasted a little over an hour before the Eagles invited the young EMU football fans down to the field to enjoy the spotlight.
More than 200 kids ranging from kindergarten to sixth grade participated in Youth Day. The event allowed kids from surrounding areas to take part in football-related fun inside "The Factory", giving them valuable knowledge and attention from Division I athletes throughout the day.
At the conclusion of the day, the kids in attendance were given posters and had the chance to receive autographs from all of their favorite Eagle players.
