Bulls Dispatch Eagles on the Road, 6-1

The Green and White fell to 1-6 within the conference
BUFFALO, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team was dispatched in a Mid-American Conference match by the University at Buffalo, 6-1, Friday, April 21. The Eagles (6-15, 1-6 MAC) registered one win on the day, with the victory once again coming at No. 4 singles.
"Buffalo's got a deep team," remarked Head Coach Ryan Ray. "We let a 4-1 lead at No. 2 doubles slip away, otherwise that doubles point could have went our way. We recovered with three competitive matches in the middle of the lineup, but we just didn't put it all together to get the win. We will keep fighting until the end."
Buffalo snatched the doubles point after securing wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles, taking an early lead in the match. At No. 1 doubles, Ani Gogvadze (Tbilisi, Georgia-Khikhani) and Maria Paula Ribero (Bucaramanga, Colombia) were bested, 6-1, while Andrea Martinovska (Plzn, Czech Republic - Sport and Management School) and Anna Veleva (Sofia, Bulgaria) fell 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, Veleva picked up the Eagles' only point of the match at No. 4 singles. Veleva topped the Bulls 7-6 and 6-2 to earn the point.
The Eagles close out the regular season this weekend, playing host to Miami University Sunday, April 23. Action from the Wasik Tennis Complex is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
