YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action this weekend when it plays host to Northern Illinois University, Friday, March 31, and Western Michigan University, Sunday, April 2. The Eagles (6-10, 1-1 MAC) will take on both the Huskies (6-10, 0-2 MAC) and Broncos (6-9, 0-2 MAC) at the Chippewa Racquet Club at 1 p.m.
Eastern's all-time series with Northen Illinois is a lopsided affair, as the Green and White own a 29-6 edge in the series. EMU has won its last six matches against the Huskies, including a tight 4-3 victory last year in DeKalb, Ill. Eastern Michigan closed out the 2016 campaign with the victory at NIU. After winning the doubles point, Andrea Martinovska (Plzn, Czech Republic-Sport and Management School), Ani Gogvadze (Tbilisi, Georgia-Khikani) and Marie Mayerova (Krmelin, Czech Republic) each picked up wins in singles to secure the victory.
The Eagles have won just one match in their last 12 with WMU, while the Broncos hold a 38-9 edge over the Green and White all-time. A year ago, EMU dropped a 7-0 decision to the Broncos. Eastern Michigan dropped the doubles point before Klara Supejova and Renu Sharma (Fardabad, India) were able to go three sets in their singles matches, but eventually fell.
