Jordann McDermitt Named MAC Track Athlete of the Week

The junior ran the quickest 3000m time in program history

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -
Junior distance runner Jordann McDermitt (Davison, Mich. - Davison) of the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team was selected as the Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today, Feb. 7.

McDermitt had the best 3000m race in program history this past weekend at the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 4. The Davison, Mich. native finished third in a loaded field, clocking in with a career-best time of 9:10.42, which was also the best 3000m time in the EMU record books. Her time currently ranks No. 8 in the nation according to the NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifying List.

This marks the fifth time in McDermitt's career that she has been named MAC Track Athlete of the Week, as the she earned the honor twice last season, in addition to two times in 2015. McDermitt and the Eagles continue the season on the road this weekend, heading to the Iowa State Invitational and the GVSU Big Meet, Feb. 10-11.
