EMU Basketball Heads to Cleveland for MAC Tournament

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- For the second consecutive season, both the Eastern Michigan University men's and women's basketball teams have advanced in the Mid-American Conference Tournament after the two teams posted victories in a doubleheader, March 7. Both teams will now travel to Cleveland, Ohio to play in the quarterfinal round of the conference tournament at Quicken Loans Arena.
The EMU women's basketball (20-10, 10-8 MAC) squad advanced to the second round of the MAC Tournament after topping Kent State University, 73-60, inside the Convocation Center, March 7. The sixth-seeded Eagles shot 53.3 percent from distance, knocking down eight triples to oust the Golden Flashes from the tournament in the opening round.
EMU women's basketball will take on No. 3 Ball State University Wednesday, March 9, in the second round of the tournament. Tip off is slated for approximately 7:30 p.m. from Quicken Loans Arena. The Cardinals swept the regular season meetings while the Green and White look to bounce BSU from the tournament for the second consecutive year.
Eastern Michigan University's men's basketball team (18-14, 9-9 MAC) punched its ticket to Quicken Loans Arena, with a win over the University of Toledo, March 7. Despite a late scare, the Eagles held on for a 69-60 victory over the Toledo Rockets in the first round of the tournament. Leading by as many as 20, the Eagles survived a late run by the Rockets, to extend their season.
The Eagles, will square off with the No. 1 seed University of Akron Thursday, March 10. Eastern Michigan will look to avenge a 92-88 loss earlier this season. Tip time is slated for 12 p.m. at 'The Q' in Downtown Cleveland, Ohio.
Tickets are available through the EMU Ticket Office, for all tournament games held at Quicken Loans Arena in which EMU participates, at the following prices: women's basketball: $10 and men's basketball: $34. EMU students can purchase women's tournament tickets for $5 or men's tournament tickets for $10 with a valid student ID. Ticket order reservations may be placed online at EMUTix.com, calling 734.487.2282 or purchased at the EMU table in the main ticket area inside the northeast entrance at Quicken Loans Arena. Pre-ordered tickets will require a valid photo ID for pick-up. Buying tickets for the men's games in advance is the only way to guarantee a spot in the Eastern Michigan fan section.
