Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMU Financial's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's track and field athlete Anthony Jones and gymnast Catie Conrad.
Anthony Jones
Sport: Men's Track and Field

Week's Achievements:
Jones competed in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Championships, March 11. After taking the MAC crown, Feb. 26, Jones came into the national championship seeded ninth. He then proceeded to post a throw of 21.52 meters/ 70 feet 7.25-inches, improving upon his seeding by finishing seventh. He was also less than half of a meter away from posting a top-five finish. Additionally, Jones improved upon his finish last season, where he placed 13th and nabbed Second Team All-American honors. Finally, he was the first EMU competitor in the indoor weight throw to earn All-American status since 1998.
Catie Conrad

Week's Achievements: Conrad ended the regular season on a high note, helping the Eagles to a victory against Central Michigan and Southeast Missouri State, March 10, to give EMU their most regular season wins in program history. Eastern notched a 196.250, which was the second time in Eagle history that the Green and White have scored above a 196. Conrad competed all-around for the Eagles, scoring a 39.350, which is the highest all-around score for Eastern since 2003. It also puts her in a tie for seventh in the EMU record books. Specifically, she posted three scores of 9.8 or better, including a career-high 9.9 on bars. She also managed to tie her beam career-best with a 9.875. Additionally, she scored a 9.8 on floor and a 9.775 on vault. Conrad has been a very consistent all-arounder throughout the season, posting six scores of 39 or better.
