COLUMBUS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- After closing out the Mid-American Conference dual portion of its schedule with a pair of wins, the Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team will send a small contingent to the Ohio State Invitational, Feb. 13-14. There, the Eagles will square off with swimmers from four other MAC schools
FAMILIAR FACES: When the Eagles take part in the Ohio State Invitational this weekend, they will likely see some familiar faces in lanes beside them as conference foes Miami, Ball State, Buffalo, and Akron will be competing over the two-day span.
SELECT GROUP READY TO MAKE THE TRIP: The Eagles will send Marissa Marion, Emily Wimmer, Haley Shaw, Abby Aumiller, Abby Saddler, Hannah Newell, Rosalie Yockey, Makenzie Garringer, and Rebecca Winnert to the Buckeye State this weekend while the majority of the team continues training back in Ypsilanti.
ON THE HORIZON: Following this weekend's invite, the Eagles' focus turns to the Mid-American Conference Championships. With a two week break from competition, the Green and White will train in preparation for the MAC Championships, Feb. 24-27, in Bowling Green, Ohio.
LEAVING THEIR MARK: This season's seniors have certainly left their mark in Eastern Michigan laurels over the course of their careers and only added to their legacy in EMU's convincing, 184.5-107.5, win over Bowling Green, Jan. 29. The trio made up of Mary Kate MacLean, Becca Detro, and Clarice Daniel combined for seven first-place finishes. MacLean led the way, sweeping the 50 and 100 Freestyle while also anchoring a pair of winning relay teams. Detro added a victory in the 200 Free and Daniel registered wins in the 200 Fly and 200 IM behind a pair of season-bests.
I'LL DO YA ONE BETTER: One week after tying the program-record in the 100 Breaststroke, freshman Delaney Duncan shaved more than a second off her time on her way to a win and the top spot in program laurels. Touching in with a scorching time of 1:01.20, Duncan is now the EMU record holder in the event, just nine competitions into her collegiate career. The Galesburg, Ill. product also added a career-best time in the 200 Breast, giving her the sweep over Bowling Green, Jan. 29.
