Eagles Close Out Day Two of the Wildcat Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University tennis team finished up day two of the Wildcat Invitational Saturday, Oct. 1, at Northwestern University. The Eagles came away with a pair of victories in doubles and another in singles.

In doubles play, juniors Anna Veleva and Alejandra Barcelo Almoyna defeated Illinois-Chicago's Rachel Le Comber and Stefana Vasic, 7-5, to advance to the finals of the B Draw Consolations and for the Green and White's only doubles win for the day. The Eagle duo dropped a 6-1 tally in the finals, falling to UIC's Miranda Rodriguez Diaz de Leon and Oana Manole. Additionally, Andrea Martinovska and Marie Mayerova defeated Athna Truilloit and Samantha Memije, 7-6, before falling in the consolation final round of the A Draw.

The Green and White saw Veleva come away with a tough fought victory in singles action as well. Veleva took down DePaul's Milica Tesic, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11).

Eastern will finish out the Wildcat Invitational Sunday, Oct. 2.
