The Eagles nabbed a number of career highs in their final day in State College

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team concluded their meet at the Penn State National today, Jan. 30. The Eagles closed the competition with a number of solid performances, including a third-place finish by the 4x400m relay group.

Opening the day with the 200m dash invite, junior Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio – Findlay) took third with a time of 21.31, moving him to eighth in EMU history. Senior Matthew Williams (Moreno Valley, Calif. – Vista Del Lago) ran in the 200m dash as well, nabbing 11th and clocking in at 22.19. Senior Jeff Elam (Latrobe, Pa. – Greater Latrobe Senior) had a solid race in the 400m dash as well, taking home runner-up and posting a time of 48.68. Redshirt senior Solomon Simmons (Murrieta, Calif. – Murrieta Valley) also ran in the event, taking 10th with a time of 49.53.

Heading to the 500m dash, freshman Frank Douglas (Mansfield, Ohio – Madison Comprehensive) was the lone Eagle competitor, taking 18th and posting a time of 1:09.89. In the 800m, senior Scott Bradley (Battle Creek, Mich. – Lakeview) took fifth, clocking in at 1:52.20. Graduate student Joshua Sabo (Akron, Ohio – Revere) nabbed silver for the Eagles in the 1000m run invite, as he crossed the finish line in 2:24.53.

In the mile, redshirt freshman Nick McFarland (Hillsborough, N.J. – Hillsborough) posted a time of 4:24.21, which was good for 19th. A trio of Eagles ran in the 3000m invite as well, with redshirt sophomore Nick Raymond (Erie, Mich. – Mason) being the top EMU finisher in 12th with a time of 8:13.61. Redshirt sophomores Lahsene Bouchikhi (Antwerp, Belgium - Stedelijk Lyceum Paardenmarkt Luchthaven) and Hlynur Andresson (Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland – Mountain Ridge) also participated in the race, taking 15th and 20th, respectively.

From there, the 4x400m relay invite team of Elam, senior Mason Waynes (Kenosha, Wis. – Bradford), Williams, and Brown managed to take third, crossing the finish line in 3:12.54. The Eagles then had three student-athletes in the high jump, with redshirt junior Zach Waldron (Grand Rapids, Mich. – Northview) finishing 11th with a mark of 2.01 meters/ 6 feet 7.0-inches. In the triple jump, freshman Cameron Hart (Columbus, Ohio – Bishop Hartley) took home 16th with a jump of 13.94 meters/ 45 feet 9.0-inches. To close the day, junior Quinn Levering (Caledonia, Ohio – River Valley) participated in the shot put, finishing 11th with a throw of 16.43 meters/ 53 feet 11.0-inches.

EMU next heads to South Bend, Ind. for the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 5-6.
