Eagles Make the Trek East for Pair of Meets

The Green and White will split between the Penn State National and the Camel City Invitational
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team continues its 2016 season on the road, with the team splitting up for the Penn State National and the Camel City Invitational, both taking place Jan. 29-30. The majority of the squad will travel to State College, Pa., while a select number of student-athletes will head to Winston-Salem, N.C.
Last week, the Eagles hosted the EMU Triangular, Jan. 23, taking home the team title with 138 points. The Green and White claimed seven event titles, highlighted by a podium sweep in the 60m hurdles. Redshirt senior Solomon Simmons (Murrieta, Calif. - Murrieta Valley) took home the gold, clocking in at 8.19, while freshman Frank Douglas (Mansfield, Ohio - Madison Comprehensive) and senior Bryce Lindsey (New Middletown, Ohio - Fairfield Senior) were right behind him with times of 8.27 and 8.30, respectively.
The weight throw group also had a solid day, as five separate throwers set new career-bests. Additionally, the jumps group took home gold in both the long jump and the high jump, as junior Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio - Findlay) and redshirt junior Zach Waldron (Grand Rapids, Mich. - Northview) claimed top honors.
Finally, EMU claimed the top two spots in both the 800m and the 3000m, with senior Scott Bradley (Battle Creek, Mich. - Lakeview) and sophomore Csaba Matko (Racalmas, Hungary - Szechenyi Istvan Gimnazium) finishing first in each event.
The Penn State National is set to begin Friday, Jan. 29, at 4 p.m. The event will pick up again Saturday, Jan. 30, at 10:30 a.m., with the conclusion set for 5:45 p.m. More information on the event can be found by clicking here. On the other hand, the Camel City Invitational is slated to start Friday at 1 p.m.. On Saturday, the event will return to action at 9 a.m., and conclude with the final event at noon.
