The Eagles grabbed six victories on Saturday
EVASNSTON, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team finished day two of the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Northwestern University Saturday, Sept. 26. The Eagles grabbed six victories throughout the day.
Beginning in doubles play, the top duo of Andrea Martinovska and Klara Supejova defeated Carina Ma and Natsumi Okamoto from Pittsburgh, 6-4. Unfortunately, both of the Green and White's remaining duos dropped 6-4 decisions to close out the day's portion of doubles action.
EMU nabbed five victories in singles action as Supejova led the way, posting a pair of wins. The Prague, Czech Republic native defeating Michigan State's Davina Nguyen, 7-6, 6-2, and then Louisiana State's Ryann Foster, 7-6, 6-2. Martinovska added a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Clara Lucas from Pittsburgh. Ani Gogvadze also defeated Lucas, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, while Anna Veleva notched a three-set, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, win versus DePaul's Milica Tesic.
The Eagles complete the Wildcat Invitational Sunday, Sept. 27, from the Vandy Christie Tennis Center. Play begins at 9 a.m. CT in Evanston.
