EMU Set to Host Oakland for Exhibition Match

Sunday's match is the first to take place at Scicluna Field since renovations
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's soccer team is set to host the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies in a preseason exhibition match Sunday, Aug. 15. Set to take place at renovated Scicluna Field, the match is slated for 1 p.m.
This weekend's preseason tune up will be the first meeting between the two teams since they drew even during the 2012 season. A scoring frenzy in the first 53 minutes of play opened with a goal off the head of EMU's Angela Vultaggio in the 10th minute before Oakland scored three unanswered goals to take a commanding 3-1 lead. With time dwindling down in the first half, Bianca Rossi's one-timer in front of the net, returned momentum to the Green and White. Rossi carried the momentum into the second half, one-timing a cross past the Golden Grizzlies' keeper to even the score at three. Rossi's goal early in the second half proved to be the last one of the match as the teams played the final 57 minutes, including two overtimes, without a goal.
With construction finished last fall, Sunday's afternoon tilt will mark the first match played at Scicluna Field since the addition of permanent bleachers and a press box. Fans planning on attending should utilize the parking lot across from the EMU Indoor Practice Facility located on Westview St., then follow the newly cemented sidewalk out towards the pitch.
